LACHARITE: Kathleen (Kay) Mary (nee Oertel). Kay passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 22, 2012. She was born May 10, 1931 in Russell, Manitoba to Mary and Albert Oertel. Kay moved to Brandon in her early years and worked at Barneys Restaurant, Commodore Bakery and for several years at McKenzie Seeds. It was at Barneys that she met her loving husband Leo, whom she married February l5, 1963. Kay enjoyed her weekly bingo games as well as gardening and baking for her family. Kay was predeceased by her parents Mary and Albert, her brothers Wayne and Orville Oertel, her sister Evelyn Northam and her son Luverne (Chick) Glaseman. She is survived by her children and grandchildren Darwin (Karen) Glaseman, Tracey and Cori, Pat Hadley, Todd, Tobi and Bobbi, Dale (Janet) Glaseman, Jodi, Marc and Kristopher, Noni (Oscar) Collette, Brandi and Tyler, Corky (Darcie) Glaseman, Dustin and Amanda, Barb (Art) LaFleche, Danielle and Nikki, Grandsons Murray and Terry Glaseman. She is also survived by her brothers Warren (Greg) Taylor, Jerry (Norma) Oertel, Larry Oertel, Ken (Evelyn) Oertel, Rae (Carmen) Oertel and sisters Shirley Wotton (Merv Wear) and Florence (Matt) Hrabarchuk. Brothers/ sisters-in-law Irene Birin, Alvin (Marlene) Lacharite and Rita Robertson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. As per Kays request, cremation has taken place. She was laid to rest at a private family service in Stonewall, MB on November 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Lung Association or Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to say a special thank you to staff in ICU at Seven Oaks Hospital for their exceptional care of Mom.
