ANDERSON: With family at his side, George Alexander Anderson (76) of Strathclair, Manitoba passed away December 4, 2012 at the Minnedosa Health Centre. George was born, went to school and lived and raised his family in the Green Bluff District. He knew every inch of that patch of land on the border of Strathclair and Shoal Lake municipalities (the home farm). October 10, 1959 he married Edith Kshywieski of Ethelbert (in the snow storm that many still talk about). They celebrated 53 remarkable years of marriage. They have two daughters, Cheryl and Shannon. With passion, interest and great knowledge, Georges life work was farming (cattle and grain). Willing to lend a hand and help a neighbor or give time where needed; George was always involved in his community. He was particularly proud of designating a portion of their land to Ducks Unlimited for conservation purposes. December 1997, George and Edith moved off the home farm into Strathclair. Farming didnt stop with the move; he had his hand in it until his passing. In his loosely termed retirement, he served proudly as a Board Member of the Strathclair Credit Union, the Prairie Mountain Regional Museum and the Carlton Lodge. He gave time to many other organizations. His interests included hours spent at the Old Iron Club in Strathclair, road trips to hockey games to watch the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and stopping by the the local rink to watch the little guys play hockey. He was an avid reader and transferred field work to gardening. George delivered the Brandon Sun and Winnipeg Free Press in Strathclair for over 12 years. George had many close friendships. The coffee circuit was a priority and you could set your clock by him. The conversations over that coffee were often animated; likely with some humor thrown in - discussing all life matters. A friend of Bill W., George lived his life one day at a time - successfully for almost 38 years (January 3). George is predeceased by his mother Alexina (Gerrard); his father George; step-mother Minnie (Cramer) and several members of his family and extended family. Missing him and survived by wife Edith, daughters Cheryl (Colin) and Shannon (Willie), brother Bob and wife Lois, sister Bev and husband Bill (Geekie), step-brother Delmar and wife Ruth (Cramer) and step-sister Margaret (Cornborough), plus extended family and many friends. Georges family would like to thank Dr. Gavin Roche for his caring and informed guidance through Dads final days. Our thanks to the many caregivers in Minnedosa, Brandon and Winnipeg that have compassionately cared for him over the last 18 months. Particular thanks to the remarkable nursing staff in Minnedosa for making his stay there as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held at the Strathclair Bend Theatre Monday, December 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. For those desiring, donations may be made in Georges memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Minnedosa Health Centre, Palliative Care. Remembrances and condolences can be emailed to raesfs@mymts.net - Raes Funeral Service, Shoal Lake (204) 759-2160. Easy Does It Dad
