STACEY: Jean D. On December 7, 2012, with her family by her side, our mom, Jean, passed away. She is now reunited with the 50 year love of her life, Tom, who predeceased her in 1997. Mom was born in Montreal and packed a lot into her 87 years of life. Mom and Dad lived in Montreal, Toronto, and Hamilton, prior to settling in Brandon, Manitoba. Mom was a not a stay at home kind of gal and thoroughly enjoyed her many different occupations culminating in her retirement from the registrar’s office at the Brandon School of Nursing. Mom was active in the Anglican Church and a very involved leader and participant with Queen Mary Chapter #3 Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine. You could always rely on things to be completed in an excellent manner when Mom was involved. Mom was very proud to receive her O.E.S 50 year pin with a celebration in fall 2012. Mom moved to North Vancouver and then Burnaby in 2005 and soon became involved as the president of the resident counsel where she lived and enjoyed her affiliation with the Crown Jewels (Red Hats). Mom’s interests and accomplishments were many and she was always game to try anything. She enjoyed dancing, travel, animals, gardening, shopping, dining out, bling and creating a beautiful home. Mom’s greatest love and pleasure was her family and she revelled in being a mom and nanny. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Jack) of North Vancouver, her daughter Helen (Duane) of St. Albert, Alberta, and grandchildren Karmen (North Vancouver) and Brad (Trish) of Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by her sister, Helen, of Toronto. An excellent role model, she has left us with a life time of wonderful memories. Mom was really a people person and we know she leaves many friends who will miss this exceptional lady. Flowers gratefully declined. Please consider a donation to the Tuberous Sclerosis Foundation 92 Caplan Ave. Suite 125 Barrie, Ontario L9N 0Z7 Canada or your local SPCA in Jean’s memory. A memorial service to celebrate Mom's life was held in North Vancouver on Friday, December 14th at 2 PM. with Pastor Todd Wiebe officiating. We will bring Mom home to Brandon for a service in 2013, (details to follow).
