JONES: Robert Joseph William Bruce (formerly of Brandon) born in Montreal passed away peacefully at home in Edmonton on a sunny December 30, 2012 at the age of 76 after 3 1/2 years of battling cancer. He was a man of many talents father, grandfather, Executive Chef, teacher, handyman, and all around good friend. He will be sadly missed. He started his career with CN/CP hotels taking his apprenticeships in kitchens from Halifax, NS to Victoria, BC. He settled in Brandon in 1954 where he met his wife Bernice and started working at Manitoba Telephone System as a groundman. He worked his way up in MTS until 1972 when he decided to return to his love of cooking by purchasing the 4-Way Motel in Carberry. He was the Commanding Officer of the Stan Hawitt Navy League cadets for several years where he introduced many young men to the special ways of cadets. In 1974-75 he was the Executive Chef at the Red Oak Inn and prepared special meals for Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden when they made their visit across Canada. He retired in 2001 after 20 years of teaching at NAIT in Edmonton where he touched many students' lives. He is survived by wife Bernice (Bunny), daughter Linda (Florian) grandchildren Marissa, Dante, son Bradley (Lori) grandchildren Kirsten, Brittany, Kalon, Casey,brothers Normand and Jacques, and sister Claudette.
