BOOTSMAN: Charles (Mickey), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his residence in Fairview Home on January 12, 2013. Born February 5, 1932 to Tim and Anistasia Bootsman of Kitscoty, Alberta. Dad met and married the love of his life Dorothy (Frey) of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and together they had 5 children. The family moved to Manitoba in 1966. Dads second love was hockey. He had unending stories of his adventures as a scout for 5 WHL teams, especially the Brandon Wheat Kings. One of his greatest achievements was having his name in the CHL yearly book as one of the loosingest coaches. He got to coach 3 games for the Wheat Kings while waiting for a new coach to arrive. They lost all 3 games. He was so proud to have been asked to accompany one of his players to the NHL draft in Montreal. He had many stories of many great players, coaches, managers and parents and of the countless hockey games he had been to in western Canada and the US. In retirement Dad loved to take Mom for drives around the countryside and for coffee at the Chalet Restaurant where they were regulars. Dad is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy of 56 years; sons, Mike (Karen), Tim (Lori), Bill, Norm (Colleen) and daughter Susan (Art) Brown. Grandchildren Amber, Rob, Matt (Manuela), Jodi, Nathan (Jolie), Jonathan, Kady, Kris, Leah, Brittany, Nick, Billie, Bo and great-grandchildren, Alli, Danielle, Madelyn, Joe, Jace, Trace and Kaleb. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene Prosper of Edmonton, Alberta as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws in Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Roy, Norman and George and daughter-in-law Avis and grandson Leon. According to Dads wishes a private family burial will take place in Alberta at a later date.
