SWAENEPOEL: Mary (Taylor) Swaenepoel. Mary, our beloved mother passed away on January 2, 2013 at her home in the Souris Personal Care Home, with her three children by her side. Mary was born in Hayfield Manitoba on August 22, 1914 and took her schooling in Fairfax, Manitoba. She met and Married Archie Taylor in 1937 where they farmed on the family farm in Elgin, Manitoba. Their son Jack and daughter Marlene were born while on the farm. In 1950 they moved to Oak Lake, Manitoba where Janice was born completing their family. Mary was an avid gardener and loved her chickens and ducks. She milked cows and did farm chores while Archie worked on road construction. They liked to play cards and visit with neighbors. They retired to Virden, Manitoba where Archie passed away in 1975. Mary moved to Souris to be closer to her daughter. There she met and married Louie Swaenepoel in 1978. Louie had three daughters, Ava, Betty Lou and Helen. Louie and Mary enjoyed cards, dancing, bingo and fishing trips up north. Mary was predeceased by Archie Taylor, Louie Swaenepoel, two sisters Barbara Reid, Ruby Snowball, two brothers Alex White, Ray White. Mary is survived by her son Jack (Jane) Taylor, daughters, Marlene Kruger and Janice (Richard) Martin, five grandchildren Deb, Pat (Mike), Teresa, Yvonne (Ralph) and Vicky, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. Mary was always a fun loving person who accepted life as it came and lived her life to the fullest. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by all who knew her. Pallbearers were her grandchildren Deb Owens and Mike, Pat, Terri and T.J. Baker. A family graveside service was held on January 8, 2013 in the Virden Cemetery, beside Archie.
