Don was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan on February 2, 1952. He grew up in Carnduff, Saskatchewan where he spent his youth playing ball, hockey and living life to the fullest with many lifelong friends. He spent countless enjoyable hour's playing old timers ball, mixed fast pitch ball, and golfing; all in his barefeet. Don will always be remembered as a true, loyal and fun loving friend. He was a kind, patient, positive and hardworking person who was selfless in everything that he did. No matter what his plans were, if he heard of a need he would drop what he was doing and lend a hand. Don was always willing to take on a new challenge and poured his whole heart into it. He was always took an active role in his children's lives through coaching, driving, doing homework, cheering, and helping in any way he could. He could invent countless hours of entertainment for them, like shredding paper to fill half the basement and letting them play in it, with never a concern for the mess to clean up. But Don shone his brightest when he was with his grandchildren. They filled him with immense joy and pride. He could sit for hours and teach them something new, be it a puzzle, games, how to iron his shirts, or how to help with the latest building project. The grandchildren were allowed to try everything. He loved cuddling, boating, playing, skidooing or anything else they wanted to do, and they will cherish these memories for a lifetime. Don retired from Westoba Credit Union in March of 2012, after spending 40 years in the Credit Union System, where he was a well liked and respected member of the team. Many long hours were dedicated to his profession and he cared deeply for co-workers and members alike and always looked out for the underdog. A celebration of his life was held on January 19, 2013 at Central United Church in Brandon, Manitoba.
