ROBLESKY: Joseph Roblesky (Joker) of Summerland, British Columbia passed away at the Summerland Seniors Village on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 94 years of age. Joe is lovingly remembered by Bernice, his wife of 65 years: three sons, Gerry, Ken (Heidi) and Bob (Wendy); granddaughters Sarah (Mark) and Natasha; and grandsons Luke and Christian. Joe was born January 11, 1919 in Brandon, Manitoba to Frank and Rose Robleski. He is survived by brother Mike of Brandon, Manitoba and predeceased by sisters Nellie, Kathleen (Kay), and brothers Thomas, Samuel, Paul, and Thomas. Joe lived most of his early life in Brandon going to school, working and playing hockey. In 1942 he enlisted in the Canadian Army, assigned overseas to England, Italy and Holland as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers, returning home in September 1945. Following a venture in the taxi business, during which he and Bernice met, he joined CPR as a trainman until the late ‘50s. Joe and Bernice were married July 21, 1947 beginning with a honeymoon in Yellowstone National Park. He joined the Canada Postal Service in 1960 and retired with Bernice in 1982. They enjoyed their early retirement spending winters in Florida and Texas, later moving to the Okanagan in 1990. There he enjoyed spending time with Bernice and looked forward every day to seeing the grandchildren at the lake. Over all the years, Joe really earned and embraced his place as Husband, Dad and Grampa. A graveside service, officiated by the Legion Padre was held March 7 with interment in the Veterans section of the Canyon View Cemetery, Summerland, British Columbia.
