WEBSTER: Laura. October 31, 1918 - Feb 23, 2013. Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left us gently at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, AB on February 23, 2013 surrounded by those she loved. Laura was the beloved wife of John Milton Webster (deceased June 2, 2010.) She was the third of four daughters born to Dorothy and John Dietrich of Brandon. Upon John’s early death and Dorothy’s eventual remarriage, the family also included half brother Alfred. Laura was predeceased by sisters; Dorothy (Bill Jones) of Brandon, Nell (Wally Hare) of Edmonton, AB, brother Alfred (Anne) Regina, SK and niece Marilyn Wilson of Vernon, BC. She was the best mother and mother-in-law ever to daughter Lynne and her husband Bill Kearns of Calgary, AB. She adored and was adored by her grandchildren; Tim Kearns (Michele Durling), Andrew Kearns (Melanie McMaster) of Calgary and Jane Kearns (Andy Kurelek) of Burlington, ON. She thought her seven great grandsons; Ross, Scott, William, Reid, Sawyer, Hudson and Wyatt were perfect in every way. Laura is also survived by her younger sister Elsie Wilson and her nephew Robert Wilson of Vernon, BC and Robert’s family, nephew Wayne Webster of Birtle, MB and his family, and niece Joanne Fortin of Souris, MB and her family. Growing up in Brandon, Laura loved school and enjoyed sports. She won the Governor General’s Medal when she graduated from Brandon Collegiate, and she went on to nursing, also in Brandon. In an era when it was unusual for women to work outside the home after marriage, Laura did just that. In both Brandon and Winnipeg, where she and Milt lived for many years, Laura enjoyed successful careers in sales and as the registrar of a business college as well as nursing. Laura was lovely, perfectly dressed and groomed with her signature black pearls to the end. She lived her life with grace and wisdom. We will miss her wise counsel dearly. A family memorial gathering will take place in the spring. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com In living memory of Laura Webster, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 Elbow Dr. S.W.
