DUNCAN: Gordon Bruce (Butch) Duncan, February 22, 1947 March 17, 2013. Butch is what most people knew him by. But he was much much more than that. He was a Partner to a very special lady a Dad to two sons .a Son to his mom and a Brother. He was a proud Grandpa to eight amazing kids, a Friend to many and Uncle Butch to many more. Butch was born in Moose Jaw in 1947, to Aut and Myrla Duncan. His dad called him Butch from the second he was born. The name Gordon was a brother of his dad's who has passed at an early age. He lived in Castle Point for a short time then moved to Carberry in 1953. He received his schooling there and also attended the United Church where he went to Sunday School and High C. In school he played football and basketball and later in life played, coached and umpired baseball. He was told in no uncertain terms he should get glasses, that he was missing the game. He actually got glasses and the game improved immensely!! He decided on a career in plumbing and began his apprenticeship with Ed Bowley and continued his trade until he retired in 2012. Butch applied his trade in many places over the years including Thompson, Gilliam, Winnipeg, Brandon and Strathclair. Butch was instrumental in getting the Carberry Golf course off the ground. Building, painting, plumbing, clearing and lot of stories in between. He was most happy on the shores of Salt Lake, where he quickly became part of the community. Shirl and Butch had duck hunters from Wisconsin living in the back yard (complete with hunting cabin that Butch had built) and campers living by the lake (complete with hookups.) It was one big happy family down by the lake where good food and many stories and laughter was had. Trips to Wisconsin were returned, where Butch and Shirl stayed at the Flying Eagle resort. Many other winter trips became a must. Most visited was Mexico but also included Australia, Jamaica, and the southern states. Lake experiences including the making of a dock, acquisition of a pontoon boat, and a sea-doo. All the toys were enjoyed by all who visited, especially the grandkids. He became a member of the local Old Iron Club in Strathclair. Fair time saw him selling home-made ice cream and popcorn on their behalf. He also became a regular at the Drop-In Centre in town for coffee every morning. There he became known for his 'stories', teasing and 'embellishments.' He was a big man with a bigger heart who lived every moment to the fullest. We say farewell to him with the knowledge that whenever a few of his friends or family get together there will be a "remember when ." and a Butch story will follow. Butch's passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. Butch was predeceased by his dad Austin Reid in 1987. Butch will be lovingly remembered by his family, extended family, aunts, uncles, and many many friends.Missing him most will be partner Shirley English; daughter Shari, husband Al, Shania and Matthew Baraniuk; son Derek, wife Nicole, Sienna and Grayson English; daughter Deborah. Gordie's mom, Myrla Duncan. In 1969 he married Elsie Balcuinas and from that union two sons were born. Son Tremelle, Rhonda Ritcher, Tyler and Jordyn.
