ROSS: December 6, 1968 – April 22, 2013. It is with utmost sadness and disbelief that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher Winston Ross following a heart attack on April 22, 2013. Born December 6, 1968, Chris was raised in Brandon, Manitoba where he attended elementary school and graduated from Vincent Massey High School. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the University of Manitoba, and then articled with Meyers, Norris, Penny to earn a Chartered Accountant designation. He moved from public accounting to the business sector where he worked for Progress Rail and, at the time of his passing, was employed by Sandvik (formerly Cubex) where he acted as Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer – Manufacturing. Throughout his journey in life, Chris’s academic achievements included: CA (Chartered Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant, USA designation) and CBV (Chartered Business Valuator). Chris lived large and enjoyed spending his time with family, friends, food, and fun. His tastes were eclectic. He was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed many genres of music. He loved entertaining and frequently hosted UFC gatherings at his home. He was a whiz at the computer and often bailed out frustrated, technically - challenged family members. He managed to maintain relationships with far-flung friends and family members through social media. He was straightforward, detail-oriented, and always called a spade a spade, but at the same time, had a heart of gold and was extremely generous with family and friends. He was a fantastic uncle, and took a lot of teasing about being a single man with a baby seat in his vehicle. His love affair with motorcycles started at the age of two, and he wore out many toes of his little ‘braking shoes’. Chris had done exhaustive research on dome homes, and was looking forward to beginning construction of his own dream dome home on his rural property this summer. Cherishing Chris’s memory are his parents: Robert (Bob) and Lois Ross, brother Vincent (Maribel) Ross, precious nephew Rex Ross, grandfather Lyle Watson, grandmother Marjorie Oliver, and numerous extended family members. Chris will also be missed by his large network of close friends and business associates. Welcoming Chris into his next chapter are his grandfather Winston Ross, grandmother Beulah Watson and Grandfather George Oliver. Cremation has taken place & a celebration of Christopher’s life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 2 P.M. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Chris may be made to a charity of choice or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation at 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, R3L OK6. The family would like to thank everybody for their love and support through this difficult time. Glen Eden Funeral Home 204-338-7111.
