MARVIN: It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Richard John Marvin on Monday, April 29th, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Richie passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place, which was his home for the last four months. Born in Brandon, MB on July 26, 1922, he was the youngest child of Walter and Annie Marvin. Richie grew up on the farm in the Forrest area and resided on the same quarter section all his life until retirement when he and Gwen moved into Village Green in Brandon, MB. He attended Powerville School, but at the age of 16, he left school to take over the farming when his father passed away. He farmed until the age of 87, running a mixed, dairy and grain farm over the years. He started off with horse drawn equipment, but was very progressive and purchased newer technology and liked to keep up with the times. Richie was married October 2nd, 1948 to Gwendoline Meadows and they raised five children. Gwen and Richie did some travelling abroad, but enjoyed spending many winters in Texas where they made some lasting friendships.
