GOULD: With his loved ones by his side, Dennis Eugene Gould passed away at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg, MB. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 due to complications from a long courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was born on January 3, 1945 in Melita, MB., the eldest son of Ross and Lousie Gould of Reston. He grew up in the Kinloss District, attending the one room schoolhouse there and later completing his education at Reston Collegiate. Dennis was born a farmer, driving the tractor as soon as he was tall enough to reach the pedals. He loved the land. He farmed at Reston with his dad and two brothers, Gary and Mark. Gary and Dennis later moved to the Bernice District to take over their uncles farm. In November of 1973, Dad married his sweetheart Shannon Lau and they built their home not far from the farm. They welcomed daughters Kellie in 1976 and Amber in 1980. Through the years, Dennis served on the Manitoba Pool, Reston CO-OP, Napinka Cemetery and Napinka United Church boards. He continued to farm until his health no longer permitted it. Dennis and Shannon then moved to Rivers, MB. in 2009 so he could officially retire and enjoy some fishing. Sadly, he did not get out on the lake as often as he had hoped. Dennis was the most kind, generous and gentle man. He could strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone, often to Shannons chagrin who would have to wait when he ran into a fellow farmer. If you needed help with anything, he was there. He would do anything for his family and asked about how we were doing right up until the end. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Shannon, his daughters Kellie (Mark) and Amber, grandchildren Jayden, Tyler and Haillee, his brother Gary (Aleta) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ross and Louise and his brother Mark. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Brandon, 300 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB. R7A 2B3 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th St. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7A5.
