HABLUETZEL (Humphries) Caroline Habluetzel, age 46, died of cancer in Hudson, Quebec on May 13, 2013. Caroline was born in Bern, Switzerland and was raised in Burgdorf, a small city in Switzerlands Emmental valley. Following high school, Caroline completed a degree in Library Studies at University of Bern, then worked for several years as a librarian at the University of Bern and the Swiss Federal Office of Topography. Seeking a career change and a new life adventure, Caroline moved to Canada in 1998 to begin studies at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She completed a B.A. in Anthropology at McGill in 2002, a M.Sc. in Sciences de la Communication at Université de Montréal in 2005, and a PhD in Communication Studies at McGill in 2011. Carolne is survived by her husband Murray Humphries and sons Samuel (age 9) and Benjamin (age 5) of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, her mother Erna of Burgdorf, Switzerland, twin brother Daniel of Basel, Switzerland, older brother Stefan of Dusseldorf, Germany. She is also survived by parents-in-law Sid and Gail Humphries of Brandon, sister-in-law Heather and Dave Smith of Calgary, Alberta, as well as five nieces Janice and Laurie Habluetzel, Ruby, Amanda, and Isabelle Smith and many other close relatives and friends across Switzerland and Canada. Caroline was predeceased by her father Beat in 2006. Sadly, flames that burn brightest do not burn for long. Caroline was a very bright flame and had a wonderful, short life that brought much light, love, and laughter to those around her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dorset School Library, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence, or a travel fund for sons Sam and Ben.
