GILCHRIST: Alberta Joan (Richardson). Joan, beloved wife of Garth Gilchrist of Richmond B.C passed away suddenly on May 24th, 2013 after a brief struggle with cancer. Joan was predeceased by her parents Elva Jane and Ab Richardson of Brandon and her son Kevin of Grande Prairie. She is survived by her loving children Wendy (Ray) Letasy, Karen (David) Thomas, Heather (Berry) Muis, Grady Gilchrist and Garett Gilchrist. Grandchildren, Abby Rae Letasy Clark, Kayla Letasy Somerville, Keltey Thomas, Keegan Thomas, Caitlin Thomas, Tyler and Teagan Muis, and Cate and Ella Gilchrist. Great grandsons, Ryder Brownlee, Tanner Thomas and Robbie Somerville. Joan loved her children more than life itself. She had a great thirst for books and knowledge. Sports were always a big part of her life. She had a great sense of humor. She loved her friends, she loved to travel and she had a passion for music and art. As a family we would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Faulkner and Dr. Alexiadis and the wonderful caring staff of the palliative care unit at Richmond General Hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to the ALS society. Joan was a huge supporter of the cure for ALS. We will love her forever and miss her always. A private family memorial will be held.
