SMITH: Dorothy “Dot” Christena Smith (nee Moore), reunited with her soul mate the late Lloyd Smith, on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Dot was born in Carlyle, Saskatchewan on November 27, 1942. Brandon became her home when she met Lloyd Smith. For all whom knew Dot and Lloyd could see their unique bond of everlasting love and special friendship. On February 8, 1964, Dot and Lloyd were married, later they started their family. Dot was a stay at home mom until her children were grown, she then got a job working in Safeway and Sobeys as a Demo rep. She met lots of staff and customers that became her friends. Left behind to carry on Dot’s memories are her daughter Christa (Brian) Harness, son Cory Smith; grandsons Jay and Travis Harness; her sisters: Lila (Bill) Gregor, Lorna (Alex) Lockhart, Della (Jim) Ballingall, Barb (Steve) Babiak and brother Gord (Linda) Moore; sister-in-law Joyce Porterfield (Bill) widow of Dot’s late brother Lewie. Her many surviving brothers-in-law, sisters- in-law, nieces and nephews are greatly saddened by her passing. Dot’s priority was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandsons, Jay and Travis brought joy into her life, Dot and her grandkids did everything together from catching frogs and falling into the pond to cheering the boys on during their sporting activities. Dot enjoyed her afternoon outings with her sister Della and going to McDonald’s in the evening for coffee with her sister and brother-in-law Dotty and Danny Gayowsky. Special thanks to all the health care staff on the third floor of the Assiniboine Centre. Respecting Dot’s wishes there will be no formal ceremony held, her cremated remains will be interred at the Brandon Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
