HRYSAK: Eva Sytnyk was born on December 5, 1926 near Oakburn, MB to Hnat and Mary Sytnyk. She was the youngest of seven born to the couple, who later added an adopted son to the family. Eva married Matt Hrysak on Vista, MB in October, 1948. She was a hard working farm wife, well known for her excellent cooking, gardening, and canning skills. They had two children Delmar born in 1954 and Donna in 1959. They lived on the farm until 1974 when they moved to Minnedosa where Matt worked at Morris Industries and Eva was employed at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home for several years. Always a happy, hard-working person, Eva was well liked at work and in the community. Her caring, generous nature made her an excellent mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She has 4 grandchildren, and was very pleased to become a great Baba with the arrival of two great-grandsons. Eva was predeceased by her parents, husband Matt in 1991, brothers Pete, Tom, Joe, Mike, sister Lena and several brothers and sister in-laws. She is survived by son Delmar and wife Karen, daughter Donna Usick and husband Lyle. Four grandchildren Ryan (fiancee Kristin Taman), Chad & Shawna Hrysak and Rachel Usick, all of Winnipeg and 2 great grandsons Jaxyn (5) and Jett Hrysak (1). Sister Phyllis Tutkaluk of Shoal Lake, brother Alex (Pat) of Newport Beach, Calif., sister-in-laws Sophie Sytnyk, Nettie Hrysak of Shoal Lake, Margaret Verbowski of Rossburn, Stella Kwiatkowski of Winnipeg, and Ann Waytowich of Brandon, MB. Eva was a wonderful person and will be sadly missed, although she leaves many wonderful memoires of a life well lived. Her 86 years were a blessing, as she was an almost 40 year breast cancer survivor. Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minnedosa, MB with interment following in the Minnedosa Cemetery, with Fr. Emil Kardasinec officiating. Pallbearers were grandchildren Ryan, Chad and Shawna Hrysak, niece Julie Tutkaluk and nephews Glen Sytnyk and Don Zubrack of Winnipeg; crossbearer was granddaughter Rachel Usick. Eulogy and memorial tribute was delivered by granddaughter Shawna Hrysak.
