NATRASONY: Brett Gordon Natrasony passed away tragically on June 5, 2013 at 21 years of age. Brett is survived by his mother Laura, father Gordon, older sister Jenna-lee, younger brother Lance and little sister Jade. Brett was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on June 25, 1991. He was raised on the family farm near Fork River and attended school in Winnipegosis. In Grade 11, Brett transferred to the DRCSS to complete Grades 11 and 12. Brett was very outgoing and active in the community. He was a member of the Fork River Dneipro Dancers and the Fork River 4-H Club. One of Brett’s favorite memories as a young man was when he won the local turkey shoot with his Uncle Steven. Like most kids during the winter in Fork River, Brett spent at least 5 days a week at the Fork River skating rink playing shinny hockey or broomball. Brett was a gifted athlete and excelled in all sports he tried. He was hockey crazy and played for the Winnipegosis Tigers and then the Parkland Rangers. Brett was one of the fastest skaters in the area but also loved snowboarding, soccer, track and field, and was wicked at pingpong. The passion of his life was driving; driving sleds, dirtbikes, streetbikes, quads, BMX and stunt bikes. Brett’s pride and joy were his orange 600cc Honda CBR and his 50 cc “Fiddie” dirt bike and he loved to show off his amazing talent for getting any bike on one wheel. Brett worked at a variety of jobs after graduation, his favorite job being when he worked for Headingly Motor Sports. The job was to set up motorcycles and sleds and test drive them, what a perfect fit. Brett then decided he needed to further his education and moved to Brandon, where he was enrolled in the Economics Program at Brandon University. Brett shared a special bond with his family and his many friends and was very happy when Lance moved to Brandon as well. Brett had a marvelous sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room. He will be remembered for his ability to find humor in situations, his knack for playing tricks on his friends and nicknaming all of his buddies and the vehicles he owned. His friends all knew that the door was always open to them but the fridge was most likely empty. At the time of his death Brett was recovering from a serious accident. He had made a miraculous recovery and was humbled by the support and love he received from his family and friends. Brett was very grateful to be given a second chance at life, and was looking forward to returning to university and moving forward with his dreams of being in business, finding the right lady and having a family. Brett was very close to his grandparents and family and family friends throughout his life. He enjoyed coming home to Fork River often to spend the weekend on ‘Mommabears’ couch, being sure to spend time with his little sister who he admired greatly. He leaves behind a family who thought the world of him and will forever be proud of the man he was. Prayers were offered on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from the Riverside Evergreen Chapel in Dauphin. Funeral service was held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Winnipegosis, celebrated by Fr. David Kowalski.
