HADLAND: Henry Allan Hadland, July 16, 1917 - July 7, 2013. Henry Allan was born in Solsgirth, MB on July 16, 1917. He passed away at the Morley House Personal Care Home in Shoal Lake, MB on July 7, 2013, at the age of 95, with his wife, Marjorie, by his side. Henry was a grain farmer and lived all his life in Shoal Lake except for four years during World War II when he served as an Air Traffic Controller in Manitoba, England and Europe. He was active in the community as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Shoal Lake Agricultural Society, the Shoal Lake Curling Club, and the Masonic Lodge. After retirement he enjoyed his garden, golfing, playing bridge, curling, some traveling and coffee with friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents, William and Kathleen Hadland, his brother Rex, his sister and brother- in-law Alice and Cliff Preston and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Shoal Lake, brother-in-law David (Donnie) Dunn of Russell, sisters-in-law Nora Edwards of Winnipeg and Laura Strachan of British Columbia, as well as 13 nieces and nephews and their spouses, Marjorie’s daughter, many great- nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the St.. Paul’s Anglican Church in Shoal Lake with Rev. Nigel Packwood officiating. Honorary pallbearers and honorguard were members of the Royal Canadian Legion. Active pallbearers were Jeff Henderson, Greg Draper, Ross Dunn, Jim Dunn, Chris Dunn, Paul Edwards and Derek Jenkins. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the CNIB, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Salvation Army or the Morley House Personal Care Home Activity Department, Shoal Lake. We bid farewell to a quiet, dignified gentleman.
