WATT: 1922-2013 Stella Watt of Brandon, MB passed away peacefully at Brandon Hospital on August 2, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Stella was born in Minnedosa, MB to Josiah and Lulu Atkinson on September 20, 1922. In 1944 she married Erwin Watt of Rapid City, MB. They were blessed with two children a daughter, Marilyn and a son, Doug. As a younger woman Stella enjoyed babysitting the neighborhood children and volunteering her time at the local church. Throughout their 52 years of marriage she and Erwin resided in many communities throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including the town of Strathclair. Many of their homes were train stations as Erwin was employed as a station manager for CP rail. Their last employment was as caretakers at the Yellowhead Manor in Neepawa, MB. Some of her fondest memories were made at their cabin in Clear Lake where friends and family gathered for the summer. Stella will always be remembered as a kind and loving soul who cherished her time spent with friends and family. Always an optimist, she was truly grateful for everything she had in her life and considered her children and grandchildren to be all she ever needed. She was pre-deceased by her husband Erwin in 1996 and her son-in-law Jim Geekie in 1993. Stella will be sadly missed by her daughter Marilyn (Alan Bertoia) Geekie of Brandon, MB, grandchildren Mark (Kathleen) Geekie and Marla (Kenton) Johnston and great- grandchildren Montana and Emersyn Geekie-Towle and Carter and Lukas Johnston, step-granddaughters Sandra (Wes) White, Shari (Andrew) Butt, Kathi Bertoia and step-grandchildren Jessica Higgins and Easton Butt; son Doug (Kim) Watt of Beaumont, Alberta, and grandsons Robin (Jolene), Nicolas (Stephanie) and Brady (Rose) Watt. Arrangements were entrusted to Minnedosa Funeral Services and a private graveside service was held on August 8th with Joe Ball officiating. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Stellas honor may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
