TURMAINE: Deb will no longer be receiving visitors at Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon. After a lengthy struggle Deb succumbed to the ravages of ALS and passed on Sunday morning, September 8, 2013. Deb will be missed by all who knew her and lovingly remembered by her family, brothers John and Joe, their wives Brenda and Sharon, nephews Michael and Matthew, niece Stephanie, many cousins, and an aunt (Rosemary) and uncle (Ray) in Thunder Bay. Deb was predeceased by her parents Rosemary (1981) and Wilf (2010) as well as her brother Mike who until June 25, 2013 did everything possible to look after his big sister including multiple visits every week during her time at Dinsdale with special meals on Tuesdays and Fridays. Deb had a second family that consisted of decades long friendships and hundreds of Brandon area youth that passed through the Child & Family Services programs. Deb was employed as a caring and dedicated residential youth care worker and at one time a group home live in manager, for all ages from pre-teen to young adults. Her efforts and dedication in this area are greatly missed.Deb has friends like Marg and Laurie who have been there for years and who were every bit as close as her natural family. Both Laurie and Marg continue to support Debs memory through contact with immediate family and their own personal involvement .Deb spent the last four plus years as a resident of the Dinsdale Personal Care Home. She received excellent care and was befriended by a number of staff. Angie, Bonnie, and Becky are names that come to mind as being important to Debs life at Dinsdale. Deb had high expectations of DPCH and the staff and only had good things to say about both.At Deb's request, there will be no memorial service. The urn with Debs remains will be eternally stored in St Vital Cemetery in Winnipeg. She will share a niche with her previously deceased nephew Cody (2006). Deb also requests that you deal with whatever hand you are dealt and make the best of it. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com
