WILKINS: It is with sadness the family of Marjorie Thressa Wilkins announces that her death occurred on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born in Bradwardine Manitoba on December 11, 1918, Marj was one of four children born to Hugh and Phoebe Wilson. She moved to Brandon at a very early age and received her education at Central Elementary School as well as B.C.I. Marj worked at the Metropolitan store in downtown Brandon. In 1941 she met a dashing R.C.A.F. Sgt. at a No. 2 Manning Pool dance and they were married on August 2, 1941. Marj and Roy celebrated a wonderful 51 years of marriage together and raised three children, Bob, Don and Marilyn. Marj devoted herself to Roy and the children. In 1973 Marj launched her second career as a file clerk with the provincial government in Brandon where she worked for over ten years. She was a valued employee and had an incredible relationship with management and her fellow employees. Marj and Roy were long time members of the 502 Wing of the R.C.A.F.; the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 247; and the District Shrine Club. As a couple they were avid curlers and golfers. Marj was a lifetime member of the Riverview Curling Club and was particularly proud of her 8 ender. After Roys passing in 1992, Marj continued her volunteer work and philanthropic endeavours. She endlessly volunteered for the Shrine Circus and the Legion selling poppies at a Brandon Mall as recently as last Remembrance Day. Marjs passion since 1988 was the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P. E. O.), an international organization that assists women in pursuing their educational endeavours. Marj will fondly be remembered for her dedication, honesty and sincere loyalty to family and friends; her pleasant, classy personality and vibrant sense of humour; her exuberant spirit and generous assistance to others and accepting people for whom they are; but most of all will be remembered for her unconditional love of life. Marj is survived by her three children and seven grandsons; Bob (wife Judy and three sons Kris, Jeff, Jay); Don; and Marilyn (husband Kim and sons Tyler, Cody, Brett and Kent). The Ceremony to Celebrate Marjs Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, September 19, 2013 (TODAY) at 2:00 pm. Lydia Glawson, Funeral Celebrant will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Marj to the Manitoba Philanthropic Educational Organization, c/o Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 - One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3.
