They moved to Winnipeg when she was two. Growing up in Winnipeg she was involved in Scottish dancing, school sports and activities. She graduated from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate in 1939. After attending Angus Business School she worked for C.E. Simonite Real Estate until she met and married Winston in 1942. He was away from 1941-45 serving in the Royal Canadian Navy serving as an Aztec operator aboard the Quaticooks. During that time they saw each other about every 8 months. In 1943 their son David was born. After the war Peggy and Winston moved to Flin Flon where he travelled the north extensively for Canada Packers. In 1948 their daughter Jan was born. In 1951 he was transferred to Prince Albert and in 1953 their son Gordon was born. They moved again to Brandon where they lived for the next 59 years. Win travelled the west/south portion of Man. for Brandon Packers, North Star Oil and Shell Oil. He was away all week and Peggy raised the kids alone for much of that time. She was involved in the A.C.T. Ladies Club, bowling, homemaking. She loved to knit and do needlepoint. Her passion was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers listening on the radio from an early age and always watching games on TV, missing the game the day she passed away. Her Dad worked for the Tribune newpaper in Winnipeg and in 1935 took her to the CNR Station to wecome home the Bombers from the train when they won the Grey Cup that year. They beat Hamilton 18-12. She became an instant fan and often accompanied her Dad to games at the old stadium. After retiring they enjoyed many years of travelling and especially enjoyed their time in Panama City Beach, Florida in the winters. They were always at the grandchildren’s sporting events and would show up if they were anywhere near Brandon. Grandson Jody lived with them while he attended university and they were great houseparents! Unable to keep up with the large house and with the encouragement of family they sold the house and moved to Swan River to be closer to family. When Dad’s health deteriorated he moved to the Lodge in 2007 passing away that same year. Peggy moved to the Lodge in 2008. There will be a private family service in Brandon where Peggy will join Winston in the Veteran’s Cemetery.
