HOOD: Marguerite Evelyn. Marguerite Hood passed away on October 1, 2013 at The Dauphin Personal Care Home at the age of 91 years. She was born May 23, 1922 in Newdale, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her brother Lorne, parents Robert and Alma Coutts, husband John and daughter Jean Forbes. Surviving are her daughter, Marion Tordon of Calgary; son in law Phil Forbes of Ditch Lake, three grandchildren, Jeff (Judy) Forbes of Winnipeg, Jennifer (Jeremy) Beresnak of Calgary and Sarah (Evan) Tordon of Calgary; two great grandchildren, Juliana and Manuel Forbes and Marguerite’s special friend Linda Hamilton whose visits these past years brought her joy. Marguerite grew up on the family farm in the Newdale area. She graduated from Brandon Normal School in 1941 and taught for six years. Following her marriage to John on July 1, 1947 they farmed in the Cadurcis area before moving on to live in Cardale, Dauphin, Winnipeg and Brandon. Through the years she enjoyed gardening, camping, curling, golfing and spending time at the cottage at Ditch Lake. She valued connecting with her extended family and the many friends she made on her life journey. A graveside service was held October 5 as she was laid to rest in the Basswood Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Cadurcis Church ladies for providing refreshments following the service. Marguerite shared a great love for her family and friends and will be forever remembered in our hearts.
