NEWITT: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barry Newitt, surrounded by his loving family, on October 12, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Barry was born May 20, 1940 and lived in the RM of Blanshard with his parents, Raymond and Bernice, and sister Beverley. Their farm was located in the Moline District and would be where Barry farmed and raised his own family. Barry attended school at Moline and after completing his education began farming. In June 1966, he married Beverley Bridgeman of Moline, MB. Later that year, Barry began driving school bus for the Rolling River School Division while still continuing to farm. For many years he spent his winter months working at the Farmers Co-op Seed Plant in Rivers, MB. In 1996, Barry and Beverley sold the farm and retired to Brandon. Barry continued to drive school bus for Rolling River School Division until 1997 and then drove school bus for Brandon School Division until 2013. To Barry, driving school bus was his hobby and passion for the past 47 years. Barry leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Beverley; son Bruce (Jennifer); daughter Sheri (Brad); granddaughters Alyssa Newitt and Natalie Cholin; sister Beverley (Norman) Bridgeman; sister-in law Phyllis (Rod) Veitch; mother-in-law Marj Bridgeman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Bernice and father-in-law William (Bill) Bridgeman. The funeral service was held at Central United Church on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Lydia Glawson officiated. Interment took place at Rapid City Cemetery.
