REID: Leslie Les Alexander, 1926 - 2013. In the early morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2013, as the sun was rising, we lost Dad, Grandpa, Les and the heavens gained a wonderful soul. "A new Day was Beginning"! The last four months of his life were spent in the Palliative Care ward of the Assiniboine Centre where he was lovingly taken care of by a team of professionals who soon became a big part of Les' heart. He realized that they not only looked after his needs, making sure he was as comfortable as possible, but also made sure his family was taken care of as well. Les' parents, Annie and George Reid of Elgin, Manitoba would have been very proud of the man he turned out to be. He was an honest, hard working, and loving man, who was known for his great big smile and infectious laugh. His caring nature may have been the result of losing his beloved sister Muriel Reid at an early age. He always spoke of her with great fondness and love. He lost his first wife Sue (nee Busby, Diehl) to cancer and his second wife Lois (nee Andrews, Jacks) to cancer as well. Still he considered himself a lucky man! He had HIS FAMILY, he would say with a proud look and big smile. Left to enjoy the memories are His Kids: Karen (Gord) Fletcher, Kathy (Rick) Mennie, Barry (Carol) Jacks, Carol Anne Jacks; his grandchildren: Clayton, Richard, Jenna, Josh, Sherry, Shawn, Whitnee and Courtnee; his ten great grandchildren; brother Keith (Barb) Reid, many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Special friend Grace Bell will keep him close to her heart as well. And so as Grandpa would always say when leaving with a big laugh and a wave, I love you, Cheerios!.
