NICHOL: Jennie P. Nichol (nee Regner). Died peacefully on October 19, 2013 with her family at her side. Jennie was born to Jack and Lola (Watson) Regner on March 28, 1922 near Gladstone MB. She was the second oldest of 7. She attended Deseronto for grades 1-4. Camille for grades 5-10 Holland for 11 and 12. She then attended normal school in Brandon and taught for 7 years at Fairfield, Portage, Cassandra, and Rose Valley. While teaching she met a young local boy Merton and the rest is history. They were married on April 5, 1947 in Winnipeg. They settled on the Nichol family farm 21-1-16 where they stayed till retiring to Killarney in November 1986. She then became a farm helper and gardener. She loved her yard and garden and it was kept in pristine condition at all times as was her home. On October 10, 1950 Barry Merton was born, later came Garth Allen on April 17, 1963. She enjoyed her W.I., Royal Purple Lodge becoming life members of both, and her U.C.W of Lena and later Killarney. She was a faithful member of the church all through her years. Attending regularly until the last year. Jennie and Mert loved dancing. Also Jennie played bridge for many years after moving to town. Jennie always enjoyed being busy. When Garth bought Community Florist Jennie worked countless hours in the store in various capacities for many years. She assisted with caring for her grandsons whenever needed. Jennie was always thinking of others throughout her life. Her care and compassion for others was always commented on. She always felt that it was more important to give than receive. Keeping track of her family and former friends was always important. She faithfully attended her normal school reunion until this past year. Christmas letters were sent out every year. The past several years have seen her mobility decrease. This frustrated her as she would much sooner have the role of care giver. She continued to fill her time with her jigsaw puzzles many she did to see if all the pieces were there before they were sold at M.C.C. Her love of reading continued right till the end of her life. Jennie was always an avid reader often reading a book in a day. Jennie was fortunate enough to receive all her final wishes, a grandsons marriage, a great-grand daughters birth and to die in Killarney with her family by her side.
