PORTEOUS: The death of Evelyn Elsie Porteous, age 93, occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Willowview Personal Care Home, Reston, Manitoba. Born to George and Madge Douglas on September 12, 1920 at Crandall, Manitoba, Evelyn lived in the farming community of Harding, Manitoba for a number of years, then moved to Brandon working with Homecare Services before moving to Rivers, Manitoba where she resided for over 20 years. Her remaining years were spent living at Willowview Personal Care Home in Reston, Manitoba. Evelyn enjoyed family and friends. She was always quick to tease, and enjoyed a good laugh. She was very proud of her independence and maintained it until the end. Evelyn is survived by: her son Nelson(Lynne) Porteous of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia; grandson Scott Porteous of Chilliwack, BC; granddaughter Sandra Jenner of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia; great grandchildren: Hailey and Jarrett Porteous of Calgary, Alberta, Jessa, Ian, and Liana Jenner of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia; her sister Phyllis Mott of Victoria, BC, several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Porteous, brothers Wilfred, Arnold, Jim and Richard Douglas and sister Margaret Mansell. A private family gathering will be held at a later date when mom will be placed to rest in the Greenwood cemetery in the Harding district. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Willowview Personal Care Home for the loving care given to mom during her time there.
