SCHWARZ: The Schwarz family announces the unexpected passing of Phillip (Phil) Schwarz of Birtle, MB on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Phil was born March 26, 1927 in Kherson, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with his parents George and Katharina (Keller) Schwarz in 1929. Phil grew up farming in Glenlea, MB moving to Birtle, MB in 1975, where he has lived and farmed since. Phil was deeply involved with his church and politics and had many friends in the local communities and beyond. Phil is survived by his wife Linda Schwarz of Birtle, MB, children: George Schwarz of Calgary, AB, Simon (Yoshie) Schwarz of Kyoto, Japan, Lillie Schwarz (John Moxin) of Carbon, AB, Dan (Rosemarie) Schwarz of Winnipeg, MB, Dave (Heather) Schwarz of Calgary, AB, five grandchildren Logan, Ezry, Matthew, Madeline and Amalie. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Kaupp of Springview, Nebraska, and Rita Wiens of Kelowna, BC. Phil was predeceased by his parents, son Dennis and sister Elizabeth Langstaff. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Calvary Gospel Church, Elphinstone, MB with Rev. Vern Kratz officiating.
