BOURGEOIS: Alonzo Lonnie It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of our dad. Lonnie passed away at his home in Sprucewoods, near Shilo, Manitoba on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the age of 81. Lonnie was born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and was one of ten children of Charles and Thelma Bourgeois. Lonnie is survived by his children David, Darlene (Phil) Lawrence, Leah (Doug) Harbak, Wayne (Lori), Geri Severs, and Glenn (Lynne) and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lonnie made his career in the Canadian Armed Forces and served in the Korean War, Germany, Egypt, and across Canada before settling in Manitoba in 1978. He retired from service after 28 years but continued to work for over ten more years before dedicating his life to full-time retirement. He enjoyed his frequent visits to Don Hill in Minot, North Dakota where they RVd on Lake Metigoshe. But for the last several years his best friend and confidante has been Art Robillard. Art has been invaluable in accompanying Lonnie to his medical appointments, visiting him at home when he wasnt well, and keeping in contact with Lonnies family. We all appreciate what you added to our dads care and comfort these last years. Funeral Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Barb Sitter will officiate. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of the Brandon Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Lonnie may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 824 18th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 5B7.
