SCHEPP: Sandra Maureen Schepp January 9,1948 - November 19, 2013. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra, after a very brief illness. She was surrounded with love by her family and close friends as she was called home to her Lord. She leaves to mourn her brother, Brian Schepp, her nephew Chris (Carrie) and great-nephews Connor and Carson, her niece Nicole (Randy) Blowes and nephew Kevin (Crystal) and great-nieces Arianna and Addison. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Margaret (nee McLean) Schepp. Sandra was born on January 9, 1948 and spent the first nine years of her life on a farm near Russell, MB. The family moved to Brandon in 1957 where she lived until 1970 when she graduated from Brandon University with a BSc and Teaching Certificate. She then moved to Winnipeg and taught school for one year at Sansome Junior High. She changed career paths in 1972 when she became a Laboratory Technologist at the Canadian Red Cross (now Canadian Blood Services). She retired in June 2008 after 36 years of dedicated service. Sandra was a devoted member of Friendship Chapter #67 Order of the Eastern Star where she served 3 times as Worthy Matron. She was elected by the Grand Chapter as a Grand Trustee 2009-2012 and was known for her excellent work. Her service to the Order was recognized in 1987 when she was appointed as Grand Martha and later with appointments as Grand Representative of Nebraska (1997-99) and Tennessee (2007-09). For the last five years, Sandra volunteered weekly in the patient refreshment area at CancerCare Manitoba. She was a very regular attendee at Silver Heights United Church where her faith was strengthened and shared with others. Sandra’s strong faith in God has always been with her. Sandra enjoyed watching many sports and she especially loved to watch figure skating and curling. Sandra especially loved spending time with her family and many close friends. She never missed birthdays or special events and if she couldn’t be there, she made sure her card and phone call arrived on time. It was important to her to be with her family for all holidays when she also loved her visits with friends old and new. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00pm at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue. Interment will be held in Brandon in the spring. Our special thanks for their care and compassion to Sandra and the family is extended to the staff at Surgical ICU and Womens Hospital (HSC) and the Brandon Regional Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either CancerCare Manitoba Foundation - Directed to the Refreshment Fund (675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Manitoba Lung Association (629 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
