Andrew Robert McCallumMay 12, 1929 - December 9, 2013. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Andy passed away peacefully in Powell River, joining his wife Ange. He is survived by his son Bob, daughter Bev (Terry), grandchildren Jamie, Mike, Aleshia and Lauren, sister-in-law Loverna (Walter), brother-in-law Ivan and their families. Andy grew up in Brandon, MB and met the love of his life, Ange in grade nine. They married eight years later in 1951. Dads career in hockey moved him to Medicine Hat, AB where he played junior hockey. Once married, his career took them both to Providence, RI, Chicoutimi, QC and Sydney, NS. While in Windsor, ON, he was asked to join the Kelowna Packers. In 1958, the Packers toured the Soviet Union, the first Canadian team to ever skate on Russian ice, and returned home with a winning record. Wanting to create a home base for his young family, Andy felt that the best hockey move he ever made was relocating to Powell River. He took great pride in helping to guide the Powell River Regals to the Coy Cup finals and developed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Andy and Ange spent many glorious winters on the beaches of Maui, forming great friendships and memories. Andys commitment to the town of Powell River was never-ending. He was grateful for the opportunities it provided for him and his family, the friendships developed, the beauty of the location and surroundings of the town. Many times he would say, This is Gods country. The family would like to thank Dr. Burns and staff at both the Medical Clinic Associates and Powell River General Hospital for their kindness and compassion for Andy. Should friends desire, donations in Andys memory may be made to Powell River General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.Andy and Ange - Together Forever
