ROSENBERG: Robert Edward (September 30, 1924 - December 13, 2013) beloved husband for 65 years to 'The love of His Life' Margaret Ellen Eastman, passed away peacefully in Penticton General Hospital. He was born to Carl and Lillian Rosenberg in Winnipeg, MB, brothers and sisters Dennis, George, Elsie; and Molly, the only surviving sibling in Richmond, BC. Robert is survived by three children, Cheryle Wyers (Ron) Grand Forks, BC; Edward Rosenberg (Audrey) Edmonton, Alta; Susan Citulsky (Ron) Rivers, Mb; eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, two foster children, Valerie Dalton and Teresa Horkey (deceased). Robert (Bob) attended Kelvin High School. At 17, he enlisted in the RCAF. As a wireless operator with Coastalcom, he flew in Stranaur Flying Boats with 120(BR) SGDN Coal Harbour and PBY Flying Boats with 7(BR) SGDN in the Queen Charlotte Islands completing a tour of operations. He later received his pilot wings and flew his own aircraft, an Aeroca Champ, CF-VWI at the Brandon Flying Club when he rejoined his family after WWII. Bob joined the Brandon Branch No.3, Royal Canadian Legion in 1946. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master with Peter McGregor Lodge. As a member of the Brandon and District Shrine Club he played the Hyland bag pipes for 25 years with The Khartum Pipes and Drums Marching Band. He was a founding member of the Brandon 502 Wings and past president of the Manitoba and NW Ontario Group, RCAF Association. Bob was also a founding and life member of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, and a member of The Brandon Club where many years 502 Wing Air Force Assoc held social events. Bob attended Brandon College and started working for Canadian Brown Steel Tank Co LTD in 1947 (later Cdn. Steel Tank and Metals Industries) and retired in 1985 as Senior Partner. Bob's favorite recreation times were spent enjoying summers at Ditch Lake since the early 1950's and winters in Arizona until 2000 when they took up residence in Okanagan Falls, BC. Bob (Poppy) will be surely missed and forever remembered playing his bag pipes on the calm evening waters of Ditch Lake, 'Amazing Grace'. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Manitoba Lung Association, #8-940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, MB. R7A 0P6, or The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum Group 520, Box 3 RR5 Brandon, MB. R7A 5Y5.
