MRKVICKA: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Henry Mrkvicka on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He was husband to the late Eileen Mrkvicka and stepfather of five children. John was born on April 19, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta, son of the late Frank and Mary Mrkvicka. His family moved to Brandon where John worked at many jobs, including the Brandon Woolens as a spinner for 16 years and later with the City of Brandon Works Department where he became a Heavy Equipment Operator, among other duties, for 38 years. John retired on February 28, 1997. John and his wife Eileen enjoyed Mother Nature and loved to travel and camp at Kerry Park in Killarney. He also loved to work with tools and make things for family and friends. He is survived by five stepchildren, one brother and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Philip Malayil officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery.
