NANKIVELL: Stanley Earl beloved husband of Lorraine, passed away after a brief illness on December 25th, 2013 at Hamiota Hospital, at the age of 78. Born November 8th, 1935 at Crandall, MB. Stan was the second youngest of seven born to William and Eileen (Watters) Nankivell. He received his schooling at Crandall and at a young age went to work for several farmers in the Crandall, Hamiota and Kenton area. He started to work for Lawlor and Strange in 1959 as a mechanic and then for Woodworth Dodge after it changed ownership. Altogether he worked there for 30 years. He married Lorraine Long of Crandall in 1962 and has lived in Kenton ever since, they raised a family of two - son Sheldon and daughter Heather. In 1980 he rented the Souter farm and began farming. In 1983 he bought the farm and in 1990 built a machinery repair shop and went into business full-time. Stan worked hard all his life. He got up early in the morning to repair tractors and in the afternoon combined. He and Lorraine were a team - she did the books and fetched the machinery parts while Stan did the repairs and worked the farm. He liked gardening until he got busy with the farm, loved camping with the children when they were younger and in later years with friends for a yearly trip to Lake of the Prairies. This year he was well enough to take the annual camping trip but they went to Killarney to explore a different area. Stan enjoyed many trips with friends and family, out west and to the States and also enjoyed two bus trips to Arizona and this past February to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. He knew everyone in the area as he fixed their machinery. He enjoyed curling, golfing, football, and hockey. He especially liked to follow his grandsons hockey games. They were his pride and joy. Stan was predeceased by his son, Sheldon in 1989, parents William and Eileen Nankivell, brother Edwin, brothers-in-law, Ivan Lawrence, Frank Warren, sister- in-law Phyllis Nankivell, parents-in-law Walter and Vera Long. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife Lorraine of 51 years, daughter Heather (Bill Feschuk), grandsons Derek and Kyle. His sisters Lena Lawrence, Mary Warren, brothers, Lawrence (Dorothy Coupland), Cliff (Joanna), Dennis, brothers-in-law Doug (Darlene) Long and Wayne (Harolyn) Long, along with many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Stans life was held in Kenton Memorial Hall on Monday, December 30th, 2013 with Rev. Rachel Robinson officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248 Stn. Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9 or a charity of ones choice.
