WHITE: Roland (Slim) passed away at the BRHC January 16, 2014 at the age of 79. Roland was born in Cartwright, MB. He lived and went to school in Holmfield. In 1949 the White family moved to Rivers. It was there Slim met Patricia Lilley. In 1960 they were married and moved to Brandon. Slim worked on the CN Railroad, Anchor Industry and was a maintenance man. He retired at age 65 while working as a security officer. Dad’s hobbies were house painting, shooting pool, gardening and loved long walks with Mom. He liked helping Mom in the kitchen. His home-made bread and cinnamon buns would make your mouth water. He enjoyed family get-togethers and would never say no to dessert. Dad and Mom enjoyed going for coffee at Tim’s and meeting with their friends having a few laughs. Roland is survived by his loving wife Pat, married for 53 years; sons, Mike (Donna), Dennis (Wendy), Jeff (Sandy); sister, Adrienne (Reg) Edworthy; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Slim was predeceased by his parents Fred and Lillian; brothers Raymond, Herb, and Angus; and sister Joyce Kilmury. A family service was held at Odd Fellows in the Common Room. The family would like to thank Emergency Department, ICU, and Spiritual Care at BRHC for their help with our grief and loss.
