SCOTT: Arnold Scott passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years, with his family by his side, at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon on Monday, February 10, 2014. Arnold was born in Bowsman, Manitoba on October 15, 1921. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Scott; daughter Sandra (Bill) Buchberger of Cranberry Portage; son Ken (Daphne) Scott of Pinawa; son Wray (Val) Scott of Brandon; son Dale (Patty) Scott of Roblin; daughter Sheryl (Dave) Hamm of Brandon; and son Kevin (Cheryl) Scott of The Pas. He also leaves a legacy of twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Liscar and Myrtle Scott; sister Ada (Walter) Danielson; identical twin brother Clarence (Kay) Scott and brother Norwood Bucky (Jean) Scott. As a young man, Arnold farmed in the Bowsman area until, along with his two brothers, joined the army. The three brothers served their country for five years overseas, finally returning safely home. Upon returning from overseas Arnold was met at the train station in Winnipeg by his future wife Edith. They married in 1948 and farmed in the Bowsman area for seven years. These were difficult times for the young family of five with Sandra, Ken and Wray in tow Edith and Arnold headed to the North Country and the booming mining town of Lynn Lake. Arnold began a new career as a Millwright at Sherritt Gordon Mines and Edith set about making a home for the growing family. Soon there were three more children, Dale, Sheryl and Kevin, to complete the family of eight. The family enjoyed their northern experience, being active with hockey, figure skating, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Guides and camping. Arnold was an active member of the Legion in Lynn Lake and was always willing to volunteer work and serve. In 1968, Arnold moved his family to Brandon where he worked as a Millwright for Simplot. The family enjoyed Brandon until 1973 when the North Country called again and the family moved to The Pas where Arnold worked at Manfor until his retirement in 1983. In their retirement years, Edith and Arnold resided in Brandon; Creston, British Columbia; and Okotoks, Alberta and then finally back to Brandon to settle down and enjoy time with old friends and lots of family. They enjoyed many trips during their retirement years, Alaskan and Hawaiian cruises and a highlight trip to Holland for a commemorative Legion reunion. Arnold was a past president and Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was always proud to attend services. Arnold had a complete and fulfilling life in his 92 years and we are forever proud of him. He will be sadly missed and always loved.
