PARAMOR: On Friday, March 14, 2014, Gabriela Paramor, (formerly Kurys) left us to be with Jesus. "Gabby" was born in Lublin, Poland on June 16, 1928. After losing both parents in the war, she was raised by the Sisters of the Catholic Church. Upon leaving the convent, she taught Kindergarten in Poland until she met Jozef Kurys through a series of letters from Canada. When Dad asked her to come to Canada, she accepted and married on January 13, 1962 in Souris. The same year, she gave birth to her only son Tom. Gabby worked various jobs in Souris; The Riverbend Nursing Home, the Chocolate Shop and the Souris District Hospital. Her first husband Jozef passed on February 21, 1975 and Mom moved to Brandon in 1977. In 1980, she met Lawrence Paramor and they were married on April 11, 1981. From that time, Mom stayed home and looked after things, always baking and helping with the gardens for the next 31 years. When Lawrence passed, Mom made the choice to move from her home to Fairview Personal Care Home where she continued to enjoy life and the wonderful staff who took care of her. She always had a joke or a trick to play on those who meant so much to her. Gabriela is survived by her loving son Tom (fiancée Lori Carlisle) of Brandon and two granddaughters, Andrea (Dr. Ryan Hurst) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Boucher of Minot, North Dakota. Prayers will be said at St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church, 227-11th Street, Brandon on Tuesday March 18, 2014 (TODAY) at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fr. Philip Malayil officiating.
