SLOBODIAN: Olga Ann Slobodian (nee Baraniuk) of Brandon, MB, formerly of Erickson, MB, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Fairview Personal Care Home, at the age of 91. Mom was born on September 13, 1922 and educated at Mountain Road, Mb. She married the late George Slobodian on Feb. 12, 1944 and settled on the farm east of Erickson. Together they raised nine children. Olga kept a large garden and the bread was always freshly made. Best known for her home made goodies, especially her cinnamon buns, the favorite of her grandchildren. Olga was extremely proud of all her children and grandchildren, she would love all her visits with them. She loved to tease and make people laugh right up until she passed away. Mom also had the best and biggest smile for everyone. She was predeceased by her husband George, Oct. 16, 1991, infant son John, May 7, 1948, daughter Rose, Oct. 3, 1970, son Wayne, July 10, 1991, grandson Chad, May 7, 2011 and some brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons Ron (Darlene) of Regina, Sk., Eric (Cathy) of Edmonton, Ab., Henry (Paula) of Houston, Tx, daughters Patricia Jenkins of Pocatello, Idaho, Lillian (Hans) Bekkering of Lethbridge, Ab., Valerie (Ron) Cumming of Brandon, Marcia Slobodian of Salt Lake City, Utah. 24 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren. Olga is also survived by sisters Carol Schettler of Winnipeg, Irene Sulymka of Winnipeg, Pearl Stepien of St. Catherines, ON, Julie (Burt) Stevenson of Smithsville, ON. Prayers and visitation Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 7:00 at Minnedosa Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 26th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Erickson with Father Emil Kardasinec officiating. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Colin Slobodian, Jason Bekkering, Chris Slobodian, Johnathan Slobodian, Nick Slobodian and Jay Cumming. Honorary pallbearers are all remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Westman Dream for Kids, Unit 2-37 11th Street, Brandon, Mb.
