RITCHEY: Nancy Anne Ritchey (nee Nelson) March 30, 1950 - March 10, 2014. On March 10, 2014 our beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away in the Carberry Hospital with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Allan, daughter Kristy (Nat) Howard, grandson Callan; and daughter Jodi (James) Allen, granddaughters Kodi and Letti; brothers Dale (Dawn) Nelson and family; John (Gerry) Nelson and family; Greg (Brenda) Nelson and family. Nancy was born on March 30, 1950 in Carberry, MB. She was the fourth child and only daughter of John and Ada Nelson, of Gregg, MB. She attended school in Gregg and, later, Carberry Collegiate Institute before moving to Winnipeg to work at the Natural Resources Office as a secretary. She lived in Winnipeg for 10 years before meeting Allan. They married on March 27, 1986. They lived in Neepawa, MB for several years before moving to her family’s farm in Gregg, MB with their two daughters. Nancy drove a school bus for many years, while bookkeeping for her and Allan’s farm. Nancy also enjoyed gardening and loved to share the harvest with anyone who stopped by. She and Allan could often be found at a sporting event, watching and cheering on one of her daughters or son-in-laws. Nancy was thrilled to be able to travel across the country to follow and support her children’s interests. She enjoyed dancing and going out for supper. Nancy loved collecting pictures and was always so excited to receive any new photos of her grandchildren. She started painting later in life and easily transformed photographs into beautiful works of art. Her quiet sense of humour often caught people by surprise. Nancy had such faith in God, which helped her to deal with many obstacles that came her way and she enjoyed attending her Bible Study Group whenever she was able. Our lives have been enriched by her presence and we will miss her dearly. Thank you, God, for Mom.“I will cherish all the friendship I was fortunate to find,All the love and all the laughter In the place I leave behind. All these good things will go with me. They will make my spirit glow. And that light will shine forever In the next place that I go.”From “The Next Place” By Warren Hanson. We wish to extend a sincere thank you to Cancer Care in Brandon and Winnipeg for the wonderful care you provided for Nancy in the last ten years. Thank you also to Dr. Milligan and staff in Neepawa and Dr. Uwabor and staff in Carberry for taking care of her while in the hospital. Thank you to White’s Funeral Home for the funeral arrangements and to Rev. Peggy Reid for the beautiful service. To our amazing friends and family, thank you so much for flowers and food that were sent and your continued support during this difficult time. It is so greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The funeral service was held on March 14, 2014 at the Carberry United Church. Donations in memory of Nancy may be made to Cancer Care in Brandon, MB.
