TISDALE: Peggy Eileen Tisdale passed away comfortably and quietly on the morning of February 14, 2014 in the Assiniboine wing of the Brandon General Hospital. She was 93 years of age and spent her final 6+ weeks there, unsuccessfully battling a recently discovered cancer. She was born December 7, 1920 in Estevan, Saskatchewan where she completed her formal education and then married her high school sweetheart, Murray Tisdale, on August 3, 1940, just days before he departed for Europe to fulfill his duties in WWII. Following the war, Mr. and Mrs. Tisdale were involved in the dry-cleaning industry in Regina, and Assiniboia, Saskatchewan before returning to Estevan to establish their own business. During the following years, their two children were born and raised in Estevan. In 1962, they sold their business and moved to Brandon to operate a new outlet for Perths Cleaners. Later in life, while working as a Dental receptionist, Peggy went back to school and became a dental assistant, Phase II. Still later, she again went back to school and obtained a Gerontology Certificate in order to better understand the phase of life that she and Murray were then entering. Peggy was also a very active member in the community, especially Central United Church U.C.W., Naomi Rebekah Lodge #6 (70 years), Seniors for Seniors (Lifetime Member), and the Golden Gals Curling Association with whom she culminated a 55 year span of active curling. She held and/or participated in several capacities with all of these organizations. She enjoyed her final Christmas together with her son and daughter, after which she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Although reserved, she was a cheerful person throughout her entire, busy life. Peggy was pre-deceased by Murray on April 12, 1988. Surviving her are her brother, Basil Parsons of Toronto and his extended family, her son, Bruce (Barbara) Tisdale of Winnipeg, MB, her daughter, Carol Tisdale of Nanaimo, BC, grandchildren Jason (Tara) Tisdale of Lethbridge, AB, Niki (Chris) McDonald of Nanaimo, BC, Lindsay Tisdale of Winnipeg, MB, and Laura Tisdale of Regina Beach, SK, plus great-grandchildren Cole and Taylor Tisdale and Miles McDonald. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Central United Church, Brandon on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Heather Lea will officiate. Interment will follow where Peggy will, at long last, be re-united with Murray in the Brandon Cemetery, Veterans Section.
