BERGWALL: Marilyn Bergwall (nee Austin) aged 72 years, of Shoal Lake, Manitoba and formerly of Ninette, Manitoba, died peacefully in her sleep on April 5, 2014 at the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre with her family by her side. Marilyn was born on January 11, 1942 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. She is predeceased by her parents, Bob and Jean Austin and her husband Don Bergwall and her brother Harry Austin. Marilyn, also known as “Myrn” by her family and friends, spent her childhood in Melita where she later raised her family. She moved to Shoal Lake for a short time and then to The Pas, where she received her LPN degree. She worked as an LPN in The Pas as well as Virden. She finished her career working at the Personal Care Home in Virden. After retiring, she moved to Ninette and spent many years among family and friends. She spent the past year living in Shoal Lake. She enjoyed her family, dear friends, cooking for her family, entertaining, watching curling, playing cards, doing the daily crossword puzzles, her time at Ditch Lake, bird watching and gardening. Marilyn is survived by her sons: Brad (Sherry) Rookes of Shoal Lake and Scott (Angela) Rookes of Elkhorn; grandchildren and their families: Amber Dick (Bryan, Brennan, Easton, Knox) of Melbourne, Australia, Courtney Rookes (Rob, Kiera, Bailey Litvak) of Consort, Alberta; Cypress Hunder-Rookes of New Denver, B.C.; extended grandchildren: Jessica Jones (Cliff Banton) of Winnipeg, Melissa Knihnitski (Cory, Aiden, Daymian, Nikolas, Jaclyn) of Bradwell, Saskatchewan, Connor Carvey of Elkhorn; nieces: Deanna Jones and Corrine Austin, Aunty Del McKenzie and cousins on the Austin and McKenzie side, and many long time friends who were like family. Special thank you to Dr. Venter, Dr. Muller and all the staff and extended staff at the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre as well as Dr. Hewett and staff at the Tri Lake Health Centre in Killarney. A private memorial celebration will be held in Ninette on April 17, 2014. Memorial donations may be made to the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, P.O. Box 490, Shoal Lake, Manitoba R0J 1Z0. Rae’s Funeral Service was in care of the arrangements.
