SMALLEY: Aileen Hope Smalley of Brandon, beloved wife of Gordon, passed away peacefully at her residence, Rideau Park Personal Care Home on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Aileen was born in Kennedy, Saskatchewan, May 4, 1931. She was a devoted member of the Rebekah Lodge and had been president of the Rebekah Assembly for the Province of Manitoba. Aileen worked many years for the City of Brandon retiring from the Transit Department. She enjoyed many weekends at their cabin at Clear Lake. She loved to curl and do many crafts. She is survived by husband Gordon, her twin sister Doreen and sister Phyllis. Brothers and sisters-in-law Alan and Donna Smalley, Joe and Dorothy Smalley and Margaret Debenham as well as special friends Susan and Vaughn and their family. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Don and Earl as well as Phylliss husband Emile and Doreens husband, Jim. Gordon and family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Rideau Park Personal Care Home for the compassion and outstanding care they gave to Aileen. A service of remembrance was held at St. Matthews Cathedral on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Urn placement took place in the St. Matthews Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aileen may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4A9.
