BOLLEY: Hazel Marie Bolley, aged 89 years, beloved wife of the late Mervin H. Bolley and daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Branscombe, peacefully passed away at Fairview Personal Care Home on Friday, April 4, 2014. She was also predeceased by her brothers Ken Branscombe and Harold Branscombe; brothers-in-law William Hardcastle, Robert Bolley, Ken Bolley and Gordon Bolley; sisters-in-law Lucy Branscombe, Isabel Bolley and Marge Braun. Hazel was born in New Brunswick on March 27, 1925 and spent the first 20 years of her life in Moncton. She married the love of her life Merv in 1944 and moved west with him to settle in Saskatchewan and start their family. The couple and their four children moved to Brandon in 1967 where they made many lifelong friends and wonderful memories. In addition to being an accomplished homemaker, Hazel served for many years in Home and School Associations and in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3. She enjoyed spending time with her family and making their house a warm and loving home. Her wonderful sense of humour brought much joy to those around her. She was a very kind and caring person whose strength sustained her as she bravely battled her illness. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon Furman, sons Bill (Kathy) and Don (Virginia), daughter Alanna (Paul) Murray. She dearly loved her grandchildren Larry (Patricia) Furman, Scott (Pat) Furman, Matthew Bolley, Samantha (Kendal) Boulet, Steve Murray and Laura Murray and her great grandchildren Katy, Andrew, Kirsten and Patrick Furman. Her dear friend and "daughter" Marg Chastko will surely miss their many talks and the laughs that they shared over coffee. She is survived by her sister Aileen Hardcastle; brothers Clarence (Dorothy) Branscombe and Warren Branscombe; sisters-in-law Jean Branscombe, Audrey (Jack) Ferries and June (Cecil) Coutts. She will be missed by many cherished friends, especially Denise Vermette and Helen Lagimodiere. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and residents of Fairview Home for their wonderful, compassionate care and friendship. They made her feel at home right from her first day. Many thanks also go to Dr. Kaufmann and his staff at Health Sciences Centre who undoubtedly extended her life with Gamma Knife surgery and gave everyone extra precious time with her. Much gratitude is extended to Shirley Durnin and the residents at Hobb’s Manor who made her time there very fulfilling and memorable. A special note of thanks must be given to Marg Chastko whose love and support made all the difference through this very difficult time. A beautiful Ceremony to Celebrate Hazel's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, April 11, 2014 with Rev. Canon Joy Ruddock officiating. Private family interment followed at Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Hazel may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 1st Street, Brandon Manitoba, R7A 2W8.
