SCHIEWE: Arnold passed away at the age of 91 on April 13, 2014. Arnold was born on March 21, 1923 in Lipton, SK, north of Fort Qu’Appelle, SK., where he lived on the family farm until the age of 14. He lived in Vancouver, BC briefly before returning to the farm. Arnold joined the R.C.A.F. and served from 1943-1945 (W.W. II). He then settled in Vancouver where he worked in retail & wholesale home furnishings. He married Helen Slawinski on August 16, 1946 and the two remained in the Vancouver area for the next 40 years. Upon retiring, they moved to Brandon in 1985. Arnold was predeceased by his wife Helen on July 3, 1999. He was also predeceased by his sisters Alma Horsewill, Evelyn Hair, brothers Edwin, Norman, Raymond, Herbert and Donald. He is survived by his sister Frieda Schiewe and brother Ken Schieve, sisters- in- law Jean Andrey, Joan Wolski, Geraldine Swiscoski and brother- in- law Bob Slawinski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Arnold spent many hours enjoying his garden, be it flowers or vegetables and always shared the fruits of his labour with family as well as the rabbits and many creatures who frequented his yard. He will be missed by all who knew him.
