James FLEGER

FLEGER: James Harvey – Peacefully at home, May 13th, 2014, at the age of 86 years. Jim was born in the RM of Rosedale, May 31st, 1927. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Norma Rebecca Yerex, and for several years they resided in the same farm site as Jim’s parents, Archie and Grace Fleger. Jim went on to take on the family farm when Archie and Grace moved into Neepawa for their retirement in 1963. He and Norma enjoyed many happy years there until Norma’s death in 1987, at the age of 56. Jim moved into Neepawa in 1995, and seeded his last crop in 1999 to enjoy retirement. Jim was most passionate about farming, community, family, friends and of course, Curling. He made many friends over the years through the curling circle and was fortunate to travel to 14 Canadian Brier Championships with his good friend, Ken Hockin. In later years, he enjoyed golfing, coffee at the Co-op every morning, and the both “entertaining and educational” visits at the Legion. Jim was predeceased by his father, Jacob Archilious (Archie) Fleger, mother, Grace Lenetta Fleger (nee Wallace), wife Norma Fleger (nee Yerex), and nephew Ken North. Jim will be greatly missed by his son Bruce, daughter Janice and grand-dog Bentley, sisters Orlo North and husband John Kulbacki (Kamloops, B.C.), and Gwen Hurt (Winnipeg, MB), nephew Laurie North (Edmonton, AB). Funeral services were held on Friday, May 16th at 2:00 pm at the Neepawa United Church. Interment at the Neepawa Cemetery, and luncheon followed at the Neepawa Royal Canadian Legion.
