MONTGOMERY: Donald Kenneth Montgomery passed away on June 25, 2014 at the age of eighty-eight years at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Don was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba on May 18, 1926, the twelfth of twelve children born to Stanley Harrison and Mini Maude (nee Baker) Montgomery. Donald joined the Air Force on November 22, 1943 and trained in electronics. He then went on to train others in electronics, retiring on September 2, 1972. Don then decided to settle in New Zealand as a sheep farmer until he returned to Clanwilliam, Manitoba in 1995. He met and later married Irene Wruth on February 10, 1998 in the Minnedosa United Church. Surviving are: his wife Irene and his two sons; Scott and his wife Janine and their children, Bridget and Brian; and Todd Montgomery. A graveside service will be held at the Minnedosa Cemetery on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:30 pm. with a memorial reception to follow at the Minnedosa Legion Hall at 2:00 pm. Mr. Elgin Hall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1, 800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 6N5.
