PERREAULT: With family by his side, Firmin Perreault passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Center on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Firmin was born on September 27, 1939 in the RM of Ellice, MB to Olier and Yvonne Perreault (Deschambault). Firmin spent the early part of his childhood in Rocanville, SK until the family moved to Ste. Marthe, MB and then on to St. Lazare in 1950. Dad spent his early years attending schools in Ste. Marthe, St. Lazare, Oak Knoll and helping out with the family farm until the family moved to Brandon in 1957. Later in life, he was able to upgrade his education at the Assiniboine College whereby he also obtained certificates for engine repair. It was in Brandon where Firmin met the love of his life, Kathryn Morley and they were married July 24, 1965. Firmin and Kathryn lived in Brandon where they celebrated the birth of their first child, Richard, on June 8, 1969 and moved to Riding Mountain, MB. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with the birth of their second child, Lori, on August 21, 1970. After the unexpected passing of his wife Kathryn in December of 1985, Firmin and his children moved back to Brandon in 1987. Firmin spent the majority of his career in the transportation industry since automobiles and driving machinery was what he liked to do. He worked for companies such as McArthurs Transport, Imperial and Rivers Taxi, owned by his sister and brother-in-law. He also worked at various other farming and driving positions throughout the years and into retirement. Firmins hobbies included working on vehicles, hunting, playing the guitar and violin, sightseeing and visiting with friends. Firmin was able to spend much time with his son, Rick, travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. visiting family and seeing new places. Firmin was predeceased by his wife Kathryn, daughter Lori, parents Olier and Yvonne, sister Anne, brothers Albert and an infant boy. He is survived by his son Rick (Jodie), grandchildren Stephan and Shayla, great- grandchild Isabella, sister Jeanne Engelbretson (Jack), brothers Jacque (Janice) and Alfred (Jeannine). Also left to mourn is his aunt and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step- relatives and friends. To celebrate his life, an interment will take place at the Riding Mountain Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 12, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
