McMILLAN: Maureen Mavis McMillan (nee Peacock) September 14, 1938-June 13, 2014. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother at St. Boniface Palliative care. She was born in Prince Albert, SK and was the eldest of three children born to Gordon and Violet Peacock. She was predeceased by both her parents, her brother Al Peacock, her brother in law Stan Pastuck and her grandson Russell McMillan. Mom is survived by her five children April (Keith) Kennedy, Brad McMillan, Kelly Bex (Dan), Doug (Gail) McMillan and Todd McMillan (Tara) and their father Jack McMillan (Dorothy), her two granddaughters Michelle Bex (Dustin) and Taylor Bex, four great grandchildren, Brayden, Gavyn, Chloe and Declan. She is also survived by her sister Shirley (John) LePage, her sister in law Marie Peacock, her nephew Lonny Peacock and great nephew Kendell. While her father travelled with the Canadian Navy, as a young girl, she lived in Vancouver B.C., Halifax N.S. and Crystal City MB. Then the family settle in Souris MB where she spent her school years and eventually married. She moved with her family to Melita, Griswold, Brandon and Winnipeg and then decided to retire in Birtle for several years, before settling back in Winnipeg for the past 10 years. She enjoyed her years working with the Brandon Friendship Centre and Manitoba Metis Federation and then Native Clan Organization in Winnipeg before she retired to open her own place in Birtle to take on her pastime of sewing “Sew Much More” kept her busy for several years. As a family we would like to thank the medical team St. Boniface Emergency, Intensive Care Unit and at the St. Boniface Palliative Care, in particular Dr. St. Godard and Dr. Scott. They are a very caring group of people at St. Boniface and they made our Mom and family very comfortable. To honour Mom’s wishes there will be no service. The Maureen McMillan Family.
