GREVES: Leslie Seymour passed away peacefully with his son and wife by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 11, 2014. Leslie was born in Reston, Manitoba on April 11, 1912. He was the eldest of three children to Seymour and Ethel Greves. As a young man Les rode the rails out to the west coast and upon his return he began his career as a grain buyer. He married Jean Elizabeth Donald - the pretty little school teacher on October 18, 1946. They had three children and raised their family in Dunrea, Manitoba. After twenty nine years with Manitoba Pool Elevators, Les and Jean retired to Brandon in 1977 where they enjoyed 37 years in their own home until recently moving to Riverheights Terrace. Les was known to work hard and play even harder. He loved playing baseball and hockey as a young man, but his favourite sport was curling which he enjoyed well into his nineties. He also continued to drive until the age of 100! Never an idle man, he stayed active volunteering for Seniors for Seniors, tinkering in his garage and gardening. He was also a proud Mason for over 70 years. An avid Toronto Blue Jays and Brandon Wheat Kings fan, he rarely missed watching or listening to the game. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he adored. Grandpa Les could entertain them for hours with his stories and quaint nursery rhymes. However, they were always told later that "What happens at Grandpa's, stays at Grandpa's!" Leslie was predeceased by his parents, sister Muriel, brother Doug and granddaughter Amy. He is survived and will be forever missed by his wife Jean, children Cheryl (Al) Ludington, Doug (Shirley) Greves, Gail (Paul) Shewfelt, grandchildren Carrie (Blair), CJ (Paula), Heather (Matt), Leslie (Corey), Cole, Erin (Justin) and Kevin, great grandchildren Sydney, Allana, Charlotte, Emma, Jack, Lily, Ruby and Ari. He is remembered fondly by his sisters Kathleen Laing and Mabel Wray, nephew Gary Greves and their families. The Memorial Service was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2014 with Rev. Wayne Sanderson officiating. Interment followed at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. For those so desiring, donations may be made in Les's memory to the Tilston Cemetery Fund, Box 70, Tilston MB R0M 2B0 or to a charity of one's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 204-727-0330. "Now I'm riding homeInto the sunsetWith shadows of eveningSoftly falling around meHigh over the prairieThe stars are a showin'The night breeze is blowin'And I'm ridin' home"
